So we switched to cookie-free, automatically anonymized, privacy-respecting analytics.

Intro

We are located in Germany, at the heart of Europe. We like cookies, but we dislike cookie consent banners or popups. Therefore, we opted not to use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, which we used before, and which is used by most websites on the internet. Instead, we decided to use privacy-respecting analytics with Matomo, which does not serve any cookies and automatically and instantly anonymizes all other data, such as your IP address.
Matomo is recommended and used for example by the European Commission ( https://commission.europa.eu ), United Nations ( https://www.un.org ), Amnesty International ( https://www.amnesty.org ), the official website for the European Union ( https://www.europa.eu ) and many other governments, universities and companies.

We setup our Matomoa analytics in a mode which does not require any consent banner or popup, while still complying with GDPR and ePrivacy in the EU, DSGVO in Germany, CNIL in France, CCPA in the USA/California, PECR in the UK, DSK in Switzerland, PPA in Israel, PDPB in India, PIPL in China, LGPD in Brazil and other similar regulations in Canada, Australia, Japan, Chile, Egypt, New Zealand, Nigeria, South Africa, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey and other countries.

To achieve that:

1. We do not use cookies. (If you really want a NOA Cookie please contact us, and we will ship you a box of good Danish butter cookies from NOA.)

2. We automatically anonymize the last digits of your IP address.

3. The anonymized collected data does not contain any personal information.

4. The anonymized collected data is only used for analysis and no other purpose.

5. The collected data is not shared or connected with other websites, services, or companies.

IP Address

The IP address is the ID a computer uses when it is connected to the Internet. The IP address does not give any personal information about the visitor. We use your IP address to analyze the traffic through our web pages and to improve navigation on it. But we automatically anonymize the last digits of your IP address before storing or using it for our analytics or reports.
